Develop social awareness and reduce food waste

Students from the Technion, in collaboration with the Israel Harvest Association, developed computational methods for predicting the amount of harvest available for distribution
This is as part of a datathon to reduce food waste in Israel and around the world. The developments will allow Collect Israel to prepare in advance and collect agricultural produce in the most efficient manner, reduce food waste in Israel and increase the food donations received by various associations throughout the country.About 70 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Technion participated in the competition.
The Datathon was organized by the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management, the Social Incubator at the Technion, “Data for Good” and the association “Collect Israel”, together with the European initiative EIT FOOD, Consumer Trust Grand Challenge with the support of Tech.AI – the Center for Artificial Intelligence at the Technion.
